Defination left paratidectomy is the removal of left parotid gland (salivary gland).

Indication

Chronic parotitis

Surgical procedure

- General anaesthesia is given

- Incision. Is made near the crease of the ear or behind the tragus

- flap is made on surface of parotid gland to expose gland and the tissues to be removed

- Dissection of nerves to avoid stimulation while operating

- facial nerves are tested for correct function.

- reconstructive surgery by using graft from thigh.
