7. l argued that as long as states are handing out marriage licenses that confer certain rights, they must be handed out without regard to ones race, creed, employment status, address or sexual orientation. Churches can do what they want, of course, but the state cant discriminate. And I argued that if divorce couldnt kill traditional marriage, neither would welcoming gays into this peculiar institution. (Gersh Kuntzman, Newsweek 02-Mar-2004) But we must never forget. This is not a war of choice. This is a war of necessity. Those who attacked America on 9/11 are plotting to do so again. If left unchecked, the Taliban insurgency will mean an even larger safe haven from which al Qaeda would plot to kill more Americans. So this is not only a war worth fighting. This is fundamental to the defense of our people. (President Obama on the war in Afghanistan. Phoenix, Aug-2009; from http://www.abc15.com 8.

7. Religion has long been dictating governments and intervened in all the state affairs. Most of the laws in the middle ages and ancient times have been just blindly adopted from the religious rule books. Recent times most of the secular nations have kept religion away from politics and government thus creating more space for equality in terms of race, religion, culture etc. So, if the constitution provides equal rights to everyone in the country, they also have the right to choose what’s right in terms of sexuality, marriage, child birth etc. Governments shouldn’t discriminate or treat people of LGBTQ community differently from the traditional heterosexual community. They have to treat everyone equally thus protecting the individual rights that the constitution has provided.

8. The security measures that America has taken after the 11/09 air attack on the twin towers is phenomenal. The support for fight against terrorism started growing and people knowing the risk of economic and life losses extended their fullest support in uprooting the Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants who keeps threatening America. It’s the primary duty of any government to protect its citizens from any internal or external threats. Eliminating the threats even before they shape up for any further attack was the primary purpose of the American government in the wake of 11/09 attack. It became very essential for the government to justify their actions and prove that they will protect the rights of the citizens at any cost.
