Answer #1

Ans1. Neural retina or tunic (layer)

The inner most layer of eye consisting photoreceptors (rods and cones) and neurons is called the nervous tunic, It consists of the retina which contains nervous tissue responsible for photoreception.

Ans 2. Photoreceptors (rods and cones)

The photoreceptors are the cells present in the eye that has ability to convert incoming light into an electrical signal that can be carried to the brain (via the optic nerve).Photoreceptors are of two types rods and cones.

Rods functions for vision at low light levels (scotopic vision) and they do not mediate color vision, while, cones are active at higher light levels (photopic vision), are responsible for color vision.

Ans 3. Rods

Rods consists a pigment known as rhodopsin or visual purple (a purplish pigment) which is rich in vitamin A. This pigment is responsible for the night vision and hence is responsible for vision in dim light . Rods are said to be sensitive to light, and the visual pigment is black-white.Rods do not produce colour vision.

Ans. 4 light

The photoreceptors consists of rods and cones when light strikes the photoreceptors, the rods and cones convert the light into electrical impulses which are then transmitted to the brain via nerve fibers(optic nerves). This signals are then processed in and hence, brain then determines, which nerve fibers carried the electrical impulse activate by light and then creates an image.

Questions 1 pts Humans and many other diurnal animals have three types of cones - one stimulated maximally by blue light, a second maximally stimulated by green light, and a third stimulated maximally by red light. How can human beings see colors such as orange, yellow and purple? When red cones are stimulated, they inhibit blue and green cones. When blue cones are stimulated, they inhibit only green cones. Green cones when stimulated, do not inhibit other cones, but do...
