mechanical power from the engine is divided by the planetary gear unit. Some of the power drives
Motor Generator 2 (MG2), and some of the power drives the wheels directly. During normal driving
conditions, Motor Generator 1 (MG1) runs in the same direction to generate electrical power for MG2.
MG2 starts and runs to provide an electric assist as a motor. Determine:
a) The fault tree diagram that specifies the main components in series and parallel during normal
driving condition. (6 marks)
b) The fault tree diagram under acceleration condition. (9 marks)
