Do the the stars within a galaxy move away from each other due to the Universe’s expansion? Explain your reasoning

No they don't, as the universe expands those objects that are gravitationally bound to each other would remain around each other like moon to earth even space between them expands they get closer to each other and remain in stable orbit. That's also true for stars in any galaxy that orbit the central black hole.
