As the price level falls, the goods becomes cheaper and hence demand of products increases which eventually means the demand of currency rises and hence the exchange rate rises or appreciates.

And, rise in exchange rate rises,the export decreases as value of currency is more relative to the other countries where products have to be exported so they would have to pay more and to balance it they would buy less which means the export from home country decreases.
