SOLUTION.

To find = state/phase of water for Given specifications .

Explanation =

Steam table will tell us about this.

Case -1

P = 1800 lbf /inch²

v =sp volume=0.0.3 ft3/lbm.

The given state is MIXURE Saturated liquid and vapor. i.e wet Steam.

Case -2

P =150 lbf/inch²

T = 320 F

The water is at compressed liquid at this Conditions.

Because water with P =150 psi has saturation temp =357 °F

Since water is 7°F below the saturation temp it is sub saturated or compressed liquid.

Case-3

T =380° F

v = 3ft ³/lbm

The water is superheated steam at this conditions.

Case -4

P =2 lbf/inch²

T =50°F

The water is compressed liquid at this state because the sat pressure is 0.178 Psi at 50°F

Since saturation pressure is less than operating Pressure water is compressed liquid.

Case -5;

T =270 F

P=30 lbf/inch²

The state is superheated steam .

Case -6

T =160

v =10 ft³/lbm

The water is mixure of vapor and the liquid .

Thus it is wet steam.
