Answer #1

1) Probability that right die shows an even number given that left die is a multiple of 3.

Let, A be the event that the right die shows an even number, B be the event that the left die is a multiple of 3.

n(B) = {(3,1),(3,2),(3,3),(3,4),(3,5),(3,6), (6,1),(6,2),(6,3),(6,4),(6,5),(6,6)} = 12

n( A \small \cap B) = { (3,2), (3,4),(3,6),(6,2),(6,4),(6,6)} = 6

\small P(A|B)=\frac{P(A \cap B)}{P(B)}

\small =\frac{6/36}{12/36}=\frac{6}{12}=\frac{1}{2}

2) A represents the event that the left die is a multiple of 3. P(A) ,

n(A) = {(3,1),(3,2),(3,3),(3,4),(3,5),(3,6), (6,1),(6,2),(6,3),(6,4),(6,5),(6,6)} = 12

n(S) = 36

\small P(A)=\frac{n(A)}{n(s)}=\frac{12}{36}=\frac{1}{3}
