1. The main theme of the text is Oppression of Women .The text throws light on the plight of women and the ordeals they had to face at that time .It shows us how women were intimately oppressed and discriminated in their families and society . He as integrated this to slavery also .

2. In private property societies women are more discriminated against. This is because when the husband dies then women have to come down from the position . This seximm gains momentum when it comes to land owning rights as men having large lands are considered more powerful and are at the top of the starta. Husband has all the control over women's land rights and income .Women in these societies do not have access to land rights os they are discriinated.In case of communal living women are more safe and more equal.They have rights and they are more roles to play such as leader, herbalist or healers .In this type of community everyone has to contribute so women are treated more equally .
