The pre-zygotic reproductive barriers are habitat isolation, temporal isolation, behavioral isolation, mechanical isolation and gametic isolation whereas the post-zygotic reproductive barriers are hybrid inviability, hybrid breakdown and hybrid infertility. The pre-zygotic barriers prevent the zygote formation and the post-zygotic barriers prevent any further reproduction after a hybrid ia formed as they are sterile or are inviable.
