Answer #1

Oxymercuration : A reaction in which an alkene is reacted with Hg+2 salt and oxygen nucleophile (water or alcohol) to form an organomercury intermediate which on further reduced with NaBH4, C-Hg bond converts into C-H bond. The overall reaction converts an alkene into alcohol if nucleophile water and ether if the nucleophile is an alcohol.

The mercuration follow Markonikov's rule.ity (OAC), Hg-occupy least hindeled itgofc position HO OH ACOH Į NaBlity H 13 Nucleophile attacks at more substituted carbon34) Hydroxy group has high priority order as suffix according IUPAC functional group priority order and the substituents should be given as prefixes in an alphabetic order.

3-fluoro-5-iodo-4-nitrophenol
