Switches are the devices that are used on the computer network for
physically connecting the networking devices such as computers,
devices together. The wired connections are done to the switches
and thus using this the networked devices to communicate. Switches
are used to control the data movement in the networks and are used
to relay the signals to the machines directly meant for the
applications.
The networked devices in the switches are identified by the MAC address and thus allows the switch to regulate the flow of the data, messages. Hubs do not provide the identification, security of the devices, and the messages are transferred to each of the devices which are connected, less intelligent than switches, and thus it also reduces the efficiency of the network.
