Explain the following key terms in a percolation process: Conductivity flow and Diffusivity flow
Answer:-
The process of fluid(liquid or gas) filteration through a porous media is known as percolation. The main law used to explain percolation is Darcy's Law. The main key word used in percolation is convective flow and diffusivity flow. They are explained below.
▪ Convective flow:- when the flow is in the context of porous media, and due to effect of the applied pressure the transfer of fluid across the media membrane takes place is known as convective flow. The fluid can be a pure solvent or solution.
▪ Diffusivity flow:- when the flow in context of porous membrane where the transfer of matter takes place by the diffusion of fluid due to concentration differences or chemical kinetics difference is know as diffusivity flow. It is also known as diffusive flow. The matter transfered can be pure solute or solution.
