Part I: Background When a ray of light strikes a smooth surface, it can either reflect, such as with a mirror, or it can both reflect and refract, such as with glass. In this make-up lab activity, we shall look at both situations. This make-up lab shall try to replicate the lab from your lab manual as best possible. Be sure to read the "Discussion" in your regular lab manual. You will be using the Bending Light simulation. Part II: Procedures Step 1 When the sim opens, choose Intro. The window will open with a laser pointer, turned off and pointing down and to the right. A dashed line, representing the normal line, should be visible. If not, click the box next to "Normal" in the bottom left. Drag the protractor out of the tools box and place it such that both the 0° markings and the central dash on the protractor overlay the Normal, and the 90° markings lie on the materials boundary.
