It's awful to think about your pet being killed or hurt. For many of us, our pets are a part of the family. Certainly, if a person is injured, we may be able to recover certain damages if we are related to that person, but what if the "family member" is a dog or cat?

Discuss the damages available for death or injury to a pet based on the text and lecture. Additionally, talk about whether other damages should be available in light of the place that pets hold in our families. Also, look at trends across the country in this area and how recent cases have dealt with such damage claims. What is your opinion of what should be recoverable and why?

Answer1:

Yes, you are able to sue someone who had caused injury or may have killed your pet through a negligence case in the law. There are various damages available for the death or injury to a pet. These damages would be typically in the form of vet bills that the owner had to pay for the treatment of the injury or the cost for the replacement of the pet.

As animals are considered as property under the law, it means that the other party is limited to compensate for the animal's market value at that time in the economy all with economic damages like the veterinary bills.

In many states like Tennessee, Illinois, and New York, a lot of other greater awards are being given other than economic damages. You may receive punitive and noneconomic damages for some cases like the person who harmed your animal did it on purpose.

In my opinion, various other lawsuits and compensation awards should also be included and received for the same injury caused to or pets. Many other damages like damages related to the emotional distress should be made available as well to be granted to the owner as he lost his beloved one.

Please read the article and answer about questions. You and the Law Business and law are inseparable. For B-Money, the two predictably merged when he was negotiat- ing a deal for his tracks. At other times, the merger is unpredictable, like when your business faces an unexpected auto accident, product recall, or government regulation change. In either type of situation, when business owners know the law, they can better protect themselves and sometimes even avoid the problems completely. This chapter...
