Answer: Dr. Pete Moss DNA has the same recognition site as the DNA from the crime scene and therefore he is the same individual in the crime scene.

Different individuals have different and distinct restriction sites and it is exlploited in the RFLP techniques. Similar pattern of DNA band indicates the same individual while different pattern correlates to the different individual.
