hello please answer this thoughtfully of what you think about sexual orientation. Thanks:)

what factors do you think determine sexual orientation in developing humans? To what degree is sexual orientation determined entirely by biology (i.e., genes, hormones, etc.) and/or by the environment and socialization? Is sexual orientation malleable- can it be influenced or change?

Sexuality, in and of itself, isn’t homosexual, straight, bi, etc. It’s. Just. Sexuality. How I see it is that the development of human sexuality has a lot of factors involved. Biology. The evolution or scientific (or however named) reason. As sexual human beings regardless or level of attraction, we still have means to form bonds with other people. It’s in part environmental. The strength of our attraction and focus via culture shapes how we see people we are attracted to and where our culture etc places one person i.e. in regards to one’s sex.

It’s psychological. When we are attracted to other people, we develop forms of bias of what attraction is “supposed” to be and not be. Which means when society says we should look and act like X but our body, mind, and spirit says it should act like Y, there is a conflict in identity and society. That starts to distort how we see ourselves and others. That’s why it takes people so long to come out because of religious and societal causes that stump one’s sexual growth. Kind of like training a plant to grow a certain way.

I disagree that there is a homosexual gene (and any other gene they try to use to justify how we are different enough to study), just sexuality in general. It’s not science and evolution that determines what gene is homosexual and which is “straight”, that is the people.

What causes bigotry? I hate to say lack of education but even some doctors may agree with same-sex attraction but agreeing that sexuality is natural. It’s advocacy and rights. We study the nature and differences of people all the time-disabilities, sex, and so on-that’s a given. But HOW we are treated because of it.
