Mercury Thermometer have so many Limitations in Laboratory in the view of Environment, Health and safety issues. Main disadvantages includes

i. Price is very high

ii. Slow response ( Time lag for measurement of Temperature)

iii. Highly fragile in nature

iv. it unable to measure low temperatures such as <-400C. Because mercury freezing point is -400C.

v. Mercury is poisonous, if thermometer is broken or leaked.

vi. Cannot be used in thermographs

vii. It' very hard to findout accurate Temperature from mercury thermoter, because of low sensitivity.
