Let the number be x .


So,


40% of x = 24 


=> 40/100  * x = 24 

=> 0.4 x = 24

Divide by 0.4 (both sides)

=> x = 24/0.4 

=> x = the required number = 60 (ANSWER)


25.


Increase in salary 

= 4% of 45000 ($)

= 4/100 * 45000

= 1800 ($) (ANSWER).


New salary 

= Previous salary + increase in salary

= 45000 + 1800 

= 46800 ($) (ANDSWER).

27 biscuits require 2 1/4 = 9/4 cups of floor.

So, 1 biscuit requires = (9/4) / 27 = 1/12 cup of floor

So, 24 biscuits will need = 1/12 * 24 = 2 cups of floor  (ANSWER)
