Because you are looking at a bright fringe, the answer is always a multiple of the wavelength because the light creates constructive interference. If you are looking at the center (zeroth) fringe, the difference is (550)(0) = 0. For the first maximum, the difference is 550 nm. For the second, it is 550 x 2 = 1100 nm. Basically, for the nth maxima, the difference is 550n.
