Answer #1

Linear correlation coefficient =

=\sqrt{0.644} = \pm 0.802

To decide the sign of correlation coefficient , we consider the sign of slope.

Coefficient for weight = - 0.0050096

which is negative.

Hence,

Linear correlation coefficient = - 0.802

The Minitab output shown below was obtained by using paired data consisting of weights (in lb) of 28 cars and their highway fuel consumption amounts (in mi/gal). Along with the paired sample data, Minitab was also given a car weight of 4500 lb to be used for predicting the highway fuel consumption amount. Use the information provided in the display to determine the value of the linear correlation coefficient. (Be careful to correctly identify the sign of the correlation coefficient.)...

The accompanying technology output was obtained by using the paired data consisting of foot lengths (cm) and heights (cm) of a sample of 40 people. Along with the paired sample data, the technology was also given a foot length of 24.8 cm to be used for predicting height. The technology found that there is a linear correlation between height and foot length. If someone has a foot length of 24.8 cm, what is the single value that is the best...
