Javier is a senior project manager that is managing the next major software release for the company’s gaming system. The project has fallen behind schedule and Javier has asked you if he could use a couple of your software engineers over the next two weeks to catch up. Your project is on time and is not as visible to the executive team. Javier has helped you out on your project in the past with advice and resources. He is also up for a major promotion if the project is successful. What would you do? What organizational currency would be used? Explain the pros and cons of allocating resources to Javier’s project

Answer #1

In an organization, the managers have to support each other and the teams. Each department is dependent on each other for resources or time or money. In the present scenario, Javier needs the help of the manager of some other department. Javier is in dire need of workforce and human capital to facilitate the processes and complete the tasks at the assigned time. The other team is on time and has completed all the tasks for the particular time frame. In the past, Javier has helped the department to compete for their operations. In one way or the other, the latter should help the former because it is essential to depict its team spirit.

Moreover, the employees are the support system of each other. The company is like a team having the same goals to achieve. The personal or short-term goals might differ, but the end goal remains the same for each organization's employees. The most crucial factor here is organizational currency. The currency in the enterprise includes time, money, and adequate resources. In the current scenario, money, and resources will come into play and affect the teams. The advantage of transferring the resources to Javier's team is that it will improve long term relationship.

Moreover, it will help them to move closer to their end goal. On the other hand, the disadvantage is that the other team might require the same resources in unanticipated situations. It can also create disagreement between the managers and the leader. Hence, it is at the discretion of the leader to make the most effective decision.

A Thumbs Up! Would be really helpful for me. If you have any questions, please leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
