Cement type

If cement used is rapid hardening cement we can remove the formwork earlier compared to ordinary cement and there by reduce the cost

Retarders

If retarders is used in concrete the setting time of concrete is increased and hence we need to keep the formwork upto which concrete reaches a strength atleast twice the stress to which concrete may be subjected at the time of removing formwork

Weather conditions

Warm weather conditions allows early remove of formwork as concrete attain the strength earlier. Moisture weather retardes the hardening of concrete

Specifications for the removal of formwork

• Vertical faces of walls, beams, and column sides should be removed first as they bear no load (It supports the fresh concrete during concreting)
• Shuttering forming soffit of the slabs should be removed next
• Shuttering forming soffit of beams, girders and any other heavily loaded shuttering should be removed at the end.
• All formwork should be removed easily and gradually to prevent the sudden loads transfered to the concrete
