Guard cells are responsible for opening and closing of the stomata, and if the stomata did not function then gas exchange and transpiration will not occur through this cells.

Stomata are pores found in plants body surface. It is responsible for gas exchange, water transpiration. There are two cells called guard cell which bordered the stomatal pore. Guard cell regulate the opening and closing of stomata.
