In project management, the  creep refers to the changes which may be either continuous and uncontrolled growth in terms of the project scope and requirements. Scope creep may arises with many of the project execution.

In order to avoid scope and requirements creep, the following strategies are employed:

• Document the Requirements

The most important thing to avoid scope  and requirement creep on the project is to document your requirements. Communicate with the project stakeholders and users to work out exactly what the deliverables from the project are. The deliverables should be documented properly in order to avoid scope and recommend creep.

• Set up Change Control Processes

Sometimes it may be necessary to change the project scope and it is unrealistic to think that nothing will change. But the change should be highly managed and controlled. Hence  a change control process is required.

Suggesting a change, reviewing, approval or rejection and if it is approved, then incorporated into the project plan.

• Create a Clear Project Schedule

By using the documents a detailed task list as prepared.

The project schedule should show all the requirements and how they will be achieving either in the form of task and activities. This is commonly made on a Gantt chart

• Verify the scope with project Stakeholders

In order to avoid project group in terms of both scope and requirements it is very crucial to verify the scope with all the stakeholders. They should be cross checked and then verified. Take the time to go back to your sponsor and share the requirements documentation with them.
