"What a joke!" Claudia laughs scornfully. "Ruben was probably hallucinating. By the way, didn't he fail most of his classes last semester? His parents are spending a fortune on his education, and all he does is party, sleep, and ignore his studies. I think that's immoral.

Answer #1

It’s true that it’s false cause fallacy which suggests that people provide differing premises and conclusion that do not match. Thus, in the case of Ruben, the speaker should provide enough cause for not trusting his UFO claims through credible reasons but the speaker is trying to point out his education and performance in his studies which doesn’t relate to the argument in question. As for Strieber, he is an excellent writer with lots of creativity in his head which prompted him to come up with stories of aliens and UFO encounters. This is because of the fact that nothing was proven by the authorities.
