Answer #1

Renaissance is probably one of the most important periods in human history that established the importance of human beings as individuals and free of any hold such as religion or god. It is a great period that brought sea of change in the fields of politics, science, reasoning, arts and literature etc. This would mean that the society took a turn from the control of religion and encouraged the efforts of human beings and regarded them as the centre of the universe. Great scientists, philosophers and political thinkers such as Davinci, Galileo, Descartes etc. from whom modern times borrowed their ideas lived during this age. Although Christian Church also borrowed and used many of the liberal arts of that time, it still adopted its own classical styles in music, literature and arts. Nevertheless, it was only after the world relieved itself from the clutches of the religions, it was able to progress.

Deliberate tradition is traditions that are deliberately designed to create a moral society. Confucianism embraces this idea because he wants to design a society where people are good by nature. Some advantages of this tradition is that it promotes empathy, diligence, leading by example, the arts, and service to others. Regarding the quote of page 163 of the reading, I agree that the United States lacks tradition despite being called the melting pot. Rather than embracing and encouraging tradition, America...
