Answer #2

SOLUTION :

(I)

log (1 / 100) = - 2

Raise both sides to the base 10 :

=> 10^(log (1 / 100) = 10^ (-2)

=> 1 / 100 = 10^(-2)

=> 10^(- 2) = 1 / 100 (ANSWER).

(ii)

log (0.0001)

= log (10^(-4)

= - 4 (ANSWER)

(iii)

ln (5th root (ab) / (c^2 d)

= 1/5 ln (a) + 1/5 ln (b) - 2 ln (c) - ln (d) (ANSWER).

(iv)

log3 (9x^3 √(y^2 - 5) / (y(x+5)^2 )

= log3 (3^2) + log3 (x^3) + 1/2 log3 (y^2 - 5)  - log3 (y) - 2 log3 (x + 5)

= 2 + 3 log3 (x) + 1/2 log3 (y^2 - 5)  - log3 (y) - 2 log3 (x + 5) (ANSWER).

> Add following solution for one of the parts :

10^9 = 1000000000
=> log (10^9) = log(1000000000)
=> 9 = log(1000000000)
=> log(1000000000) = 9 (ANSWER)
