the answer is (d) since the second argument is just attacking the first with personal criticism that they are friends instead of focusing on the why Dr. George will not be the best person for the open position in the department. Thus this is argument against the person, abusive.

All other arguments are incorrect as they do not represent the coorect from of the argument.
