In Campbell v. S.S. Kresge Co., the court found that a department store security guard had falsely imprisoned a shopper who was attempting to leave the store where she had been shopping.

The situation is a bit difficult to analysed as the security guard sole responsibility is to have a eye on who is going out and in of the store and keep checking the activites around the department store .If the security guard has done a tort by keeping the shopper inmprisoned while she has been leaving the store .The department store can be held liable for not accuiring the proof from its employee regarding the mishappening and acquiring the detail before imprisoning the person Other gorunds include , indirectly consducting tort via employee by hiring security guard who is spreading a sense of fear among the public .
