Answer #1

Ans:-

Let X be the amount of first solution and Y be the amount of second solution.

The amount of first solution=20% of x   =20x/100

The amount of second solution= 60% of y =60y/100

accordind to question.

(20x/100)+(60y/100)=40% of 80

(20x/100)+(60y/100)=(40/100)*80

20x+60y=40*80 { multiplying by 100}

x+3y=160 eq.(1)

The total amount of acid solution x+y=80 eq(2)

Therefore,

subtracting equation(1)-(2) we get,

{x+3y}-{x+y}=160-80

2y=80

y=40

from eq.(2)

x+40=80

y=40

amount of 20% acid solution (x)=40 lit.

amount of 60% acid solution (y)=40 lit.
