Sex Linked inheritance: Set up your own mating between two flies but at least one parent must have a white allele in it, and present the Punnett square, genotype and phenotypes of both parents and the offspring of this cross. Remember to show the alleles on the X and/or Y chromosomes. W cannot be used for white and for the wild at the same time. Subscripts must be used. i.e Xw+Y  x  Xw+Xw

1 Xw+Y : 1 XwY : 1 Xw+Xw+ : Xw+Xw

1 redeyed male : 1 whiteeyed male :2 red-eyed females

Answer #1

punnetts DATE: اليا xwt y Х Square Х Red eyed allele white eyed allele Female W + Х W+ Х Х x المال Wt Х (Red-eyed) (Red-eyedThe Summary :- The phenotypic and genotypic ratio is calculated by punnett's square . The Ratio of genotypic ratio is 1:1:1:1 and Ratio of phenotypic ratio is 3:1 red eyed and white eyed respectively irrespective of the sex of the progeny.

Sex influenced inheritance: Use the Canvas exercise Sex Influenced Inheritance. Design your own “relationship” or mating between two parents, but there must be at least one “B” bald allele and one non-bald “b” allele in the mix. Give the Punnett square of this partnership (it may be larger than 4 squares depending on what you choose), and give their children’s genotype and phenotype percentages. Hint: treat this as a two trait cross for two independently-assorting genes. IMPORTANT: Describe the rationale...

Fruit flies normally have dull red eyes. Some fruit flies have white eyes due to a mutation in a gene on the X-chromosome. The white eyed phenotype is X-linked recessive. The sex chromosomes in fruit flies are: females, normally XX; males, normally XY. If a red-eyed female who is a carrier of the white eyed allele (normal or wild-type phenotype) mates with a white-eyed male (mutant phenotype), what is the likelihood that their male offspring will have red eyes? Parents:...

  • Experimental prediction: Comparing autosomal and sex-linked inheritance

You now know thatinheritance of eye color in fruit flies is sex-linked: The gene encoding eye color is located on the X chromosome, and there is no corresponding gene on the Ychromosome. How would the inheritance pattern differ if the gene for eye color were instead located on an autosome (a non-sex chromosome)? Recall that for autosomes, bothchromosomes of a homologous pair carry the same genes in the same locations.Suppose that a geneticist crossed a large number of white-eyed females with...

Name Sex-linked traits are genetic char segments of DNA found on chromosomes that Sex-Linked Traits Senetic characteristics determined by genes located on sex chromosomes. Genies are and on chromosomes that carry information for protein production and that are sponsible for the inheritance of specific traits Genes exist in alternative forms called alleics. or a trail is inherited from each parent Like traits originating from genes on autosomes (non-se chromosomes), sex-linked to omosomes), sex-linked traits are passed from parents to offspring...

    16. So far we have been dealing with alleles found on autosomal chromosomes. These chromosomes contain all the genetic information that is not gender related. As a human, you have 44 autosomal chromosomes (22 pairs → 11 chromosomes from your Mom and 11 chromosomes from your Dad). You also contain a pair of sex chromosomes. These chromosomes contain all the genetic information related to your gender. If you are female, you received an X chromosome from your Mom and an...
