Answer #1

4. Single fungus can produce identical spore through asexual reproduction from a filamentous structure (tip) and known as hyphae and the structure which forms such spore termed as conidiospore and name of spore is conidia (singular conidium). Hence, correct answer is ‘conidium’.

Such kind of strategies required long filamentous structure to extract the nutrient from the area where quantity of nutrients is significantly low and efficiency of shorter hyphae would be lower as compared to longer one and it would be difficult to survive by unicellular yeast under such conditions. Therefore, correct answer would be ‘'a longer filamentous hypha'’.

Question 2 2 pts Among sac fungi, which of these correctly distinguishes ascospores from conidia? Ascospores are diploid, whereas conidia are haploid. Ascospores are genetically different, whereas conidia are genetically identical. Ascospores are larger, whereas conidia are smaller. Ascospores will germinate into haploid hyphae, whereas conidia will germinate into diploid hyphae. When trying to differentiate between septate hyphae and nonseptate hyphae, one should be observing o whether the mycelia has undergone plasmogamy or karyogamy. whether the spores are born in...

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
