Overall equation:

The equation which shows all of reactants and products in un-dissociated form is called overall equation. For example the overall equation of solutions of potassium bromide and silver nitrate is following:

KBr (aq) + AgNO, (aq) → KNO, (aq) + AgBr(s)

Complete ionic equation:

The equation which shows strong electrolytes as ions is called the complete ionic equation. . For example the complete ionic equation of solutions of potassium bromide and silver nitrate is following

K* (aq) + Br (aq) + Ag+ (aq) + NO; (aq) →
K+ (aq) + NO; (aq) + AgBr (s)

Net ionic equation:

Net ionic equation contains the species that are actually involved in the chemical reaction. For example the net ionic equation of solutions of potassium bromide and silver nitrate is following:

Br” (aq) + Ag+ (aq) → AgBr (8)
