Here it is given that, for large data sets, range of data,r = 4 or 6 times the standard deviation (sd).

That is r= 4sd or 6sd.

That is sd = r/4 or r/6.

So, given the value of r, the interval of possible values of sd is : (r/6,r/4)

Here the test scores range from 30 to 80. Hence range,r= 80-30=50

So the interval of possible values of sd =( 50/6,50/4)

= (8.33,12.5)

Answer: estimated range of the standard deviation for test scores is 8.33 to 12.5.
