The weight of the object of mass m is mg.

Since the object is at rest, the total tension in the ropes will balance the weight.

Again, since there are two ropes, each rope will have equal tension, say, T in it.

Hence, T + T = mg

or, 2T = mg

or, T = mg / 2.

So, the tension in each rope will be mg / 2.

Hence, the given statement is : True.
