9.2) Amphiprotic Solute: The solute which can act as both donor or acceptor of proton. If it acts as proton donor, it is called acid and if it acts as proton acceptor it is called base.

For example, Water is an amphoteric moleule which can both accept or donate proton i.e, can act as both base and acid.
