Answer #1

direct material cost and direct labour cost remain unchanged with the change in the level of activity, therefore they are the fixed costs.

Fixed costs = direct material + direct labor

                   = 4.00 +3.00

                  = 7 per unit.

production overhead and selling overheads change with a chnage in the level of activity, therefore they are the variable costs.

variable cost when level of activity is 1000 units is =

                                       production overhead + selling overhead

                                           = 3.50 + 1.00

                                         = 4.50

variable cost when level of activity is 2000 units is =

                                            production overhead + selling overhead

                                           = 2.50 + 0.50

                                         = 3
