Answer #1
an employer reduce the working week from 40 hours to 35 hours with no loss of weekly pay, calculate the percentage increase in the hourly rate of pay : Let the weekly pay = 400 : {{{400/40}}} = $10 per/hr original hourly pay : {{{400/35}}} = $11.43 increased hourly pay : Pay increase divided by original pay = Per cent increase : {{{(11.43 - 10)/10}}} = 1.43/10 = .143 * 100 = 14.3% increase in pay

Answer #2

let the weekly pay be = $400 (original pay) 400/40 = $10 per hour (after reduction of days, increase in pay) 400/35= $11.43 per day— increase in pay divided by original pay multiplied by 100= rate of increase [ 1.43/10x100] rate of increase= 14.3%
