You work with a public accounting firm that offers accounting and taxation services to its clients. Recently, the firm introduced a flexible working hours policy for the accounting staff. Under this policy staff need to work 150 hours over a calendar month, but when they work is totally flexible. Staff may choose which days they work and how many hours they work on any day providing their total hours for the month is 150. Much of the taxation work involves preparation of taxation returns for companies, partnerships and individuals. Generally the taxation work requires two appointments with the clients. There are strict requirements from the taxation office regarding the timing of lodging of tax returns. In contrast, the accounting work requires ongoing contact between the accounting staff and the clients and in many cases monthly accounting reports are produced for clients. The partners of the firm would like to introduce the flexible working hours policy to the taxation staff. Prior to implementing the change for the taxation staff they would like to understand the accounting staff’s experiences of the flexible working hours policy.

They ask you to conduct a qualitative research to answer the following questions concerning the virtual workplace:

SOLUTION::

Staff believe about the flexible working hour policy is that , they can work according to his required situation.

THE SUGGESTION IS  :-

The work is related to taxation ,therefore there is certains rules and regulation and criteria for filing tax return,so staff should keep attention on regular basis to do work on time and avoid last moment pressure of work.

A.The three objective of research are:

1.According to working hour flexibility policy in the firm, staff should work as the requirement of the client & taxation office.

2.The firm should also seen to give choice to the staff according to their time & situation.

3.According to research on flexible working hour policy, the firm should also monitor work ethics of staff. Is they fulfil criteria requirement of taxation office as well as client? By this the credibility of firm is improved.

B.why a qualitative approach is more appropriate for addressing the research objectives?

Qualitative approach is more appropriate for addressing the research objective as the firm deal with taxation& tax is necessary to paid by client, companies and individual. Therefore, if there is no quality while doing taxation, then it would be not good for client as well as firm.

C.the population from which participants will be selected?

E.How the sample of participants will be selected from the population (once you have determined the number of participants, how will you select them?)

.The sample of the participant will be selected from the population according to availablity of time for filing taxation & how much amount of money is calculated to file tax.

F.How will the data be collected from participants?

Data will be calculated from the participant by electronic and paper mode.

G.For each research objective, provide an example question that could be asked of participants that will help in addressing the objective. (provide three different questions.)?

For addressing the objective participant could be asked question as : -

1.Full detail of companies or individual with total amount to calculate the tax.

2.Questions about flexibility of working hour policy. Is they fulfil the taxation office requirement.

H.What steps will be taken to analyse the collected data?

.For analysing the collected data step should be taken as the relation between collected data & amount of tax to be paid.

I.What are the possible limitations to applying the findings of the flexible working hours policy for the accounting staff to determine its suitability for the taxation staff?

Limitation to applying the finding of the flexible working hours policy for the accounting staff is that the taxation office have certain time boundation and flexibility of working hour policy may do not able to fulfil the requirement some time.
