I agree with the author that ambition and temperament in moderation can lead to virtuous action. However, I feel its benefits are theoretical than practical. If we are to consider examples of extremes, in both cases, we will see that excesses of these virtues have many positive implications. Most revolutionaries were fuelled by a burning desire and passion to make a difference in their society, and we can argue that it was this very fire that lead them to do so.
