Question

6. Using MRI, you are imaging a plane of a 10 cm cube at z = 5 cm, using a slice thickness ΔΖ = 1 cm. Your system has the slice select gradient G,-1 G / mm and the cube has γ = 4.258 kHz / G. Find the bandwidth (in Hz) of the RF waveform you would be using to perform the slice selection

Answer #1

The bandwidth of the RF waveform used for slice selection is given by

\Delta F=\gamma *G_{z}*\Delta z ...........................(1)

where \gamma =4.258 kHz/G

\Delta z=1 cm

G_{z}=1 G/mm

Hence \Delta F=4.258*10^{3}*0.1*1=425.8 Hz

This is the required bandwidth in Hz.
