Answer #1

To solve this, we need Ka values for the weak acids.

Among the given acids, HBr is a strong acid. So, [H3O+] is highest among four.

Ka for HC2H3O2 = 1.8 × 10–5

Ka for HCN = 6.2 × 10–10

Ka for HClO2 = 1.1 × 10–2

Ka is the acid dissociation constant of a weak acid. Larger the Ka value, stronger the acid and hence Larger the conc. of H3O+

Hence the order of Hydronium ion concentration is

0.1 M HBr > 0.1 M HClO2 > 0.1 M HC2H3O2 > 0.1 M HCN
