The radioactive isotopes spontaneously breaks down to daughters. Stable isotopes don't decay spontaneously i.e. these are non-radioactive as they have a stable nuclide. Example- C-12 and C-13 are stable isotopes of carbon while C-14 is a radioisotope of carbon.
