Answer #1

The correct answer is segregation of mtDNA molecules into daughter cells needs to be equal

In this case, the mtDNA is entirely transferred by the mother to the offspring. All of the offspring posses only the mtDNA for their mother. It is said the the mitochondrial DNA is strictly maternal so it is not equally segregated.

thank you!! Question 1 0.5 pts It has been shown that inhibition of a key chromatin remodeling complex known as NURD. by deleting one of its subunits, can result in a significant increase in the efficiency of reprogramming of somatic cells into pluripotent stem cells. The reprogramming is normally done by the induced expression of a battery of transcription factors in the somatic cells, but is typically not very efficient. Such an observation suggests that the NURD complex is normally...

The following statements apply to concepts and material discussed in Chapter 15; identify which statement is TRUE. Answers: A common ancestor of two species on evolutionary trees can be found at the point where the two branches meet. Humans evolved from Neanderthals about 50,000 years ago. Mitochondrial DNA is not particularly useful when trying to determine the movement pattern of humans historically across the globe. Scientists can estimate when species diverged from a common ancestor by comparing their Karyotypes. We...
