Question

HRW6 35-10P Fill in Table 35-3, each row of which refers to a different combination of an object and either a plane mirror, a spherical convex mirror, or a spherical concave mirror. Distances are in centimeters. If a number lacks a sign, find the sign. To help yourself, sketch each combination and draw in enough rays to locate the object and its image. Answer #1

a) 1/i = 1/f - 1/p = 1/20 - 1/10

i = - 20 cm

m = -i / p = - ( - 20) / p = 20 / 10 = 2

________________________________________________________________________________________

b) m = -i/p

i = m*p = 10*1 = - 10

i = -10 cm

____________________________________________________________________________________________

c) 1/i = 1/20 - 1/30

i = 60 cm

m = - 60 / 30 =

m = -2

______________________________________________________________________________________

d) r = 40 cm , so f = 40/2 = 20 cm

1/i = 1/20 - 1/60

i = 30 cm

m = -30 / 60

m = -0.5

___________________________________________________________________________________________

e) 1/p = 1/f - 1/i

1/p = -1/20 - (-1/10)

p = 20 cm

m = - (-10) / 20

m = 0.5
