Answer #1

A possible structure is given below.

base peak = m/z 30 could be CH2NH2

m/z 28 is for CH2CH2

m/z 27 could be CH2=CH

m/z 44 could be CH2CH2NH2

so a possible structure out of these fragments would be,

In Mass Spectrometry (MS) the molar mass of compounds can be determined. The so-called "molecular ion" corresponds to the molecular mass when Electron Impact Mass Spectrometry (EIMS, one of several common MS techniques) is used. It is important to realize, though, that the mass detected by MS depends on the isotopes present in the molecule. The questions below try illustrate the impact of isotope distribution in a molecule. What is the molar mass of the compound shown below? What is...

25-25. Chromatography-mass spectrometry. Cocaine metabolism in rats can be studied by injecting the drug and periodically withdrawing blood to measure levels of metabolites by HPLC-mass spectrometry. For quantitative analysis, isotopically labeled internal standards are mixed with the blood sample. Blood was analyzed by reversed-phase chro- matography with an acidic eluent and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry for detection.
