Answer #1

Ans: when the slope exceed the angle of repose.

Reason: the angle of repose is the steepest angle at which sloping surface formed of loose materials which is stable. If slope of bedding is more than the angle of repose then there will be unstable condition formed. And it causes the landslides.

Learning Goal: To be able to interpret potential energy diagrams and predict the corresponding motion of a particle. Potential energy diagrams for a particle are useful in predicting the motion of that particle. These diagrams allow one to determine the direction of the force acting on the particle at any point, the points of stable and unstable equilibrium, the particle's kinetic energy, etc. Consider the potential energy diagram shown. (Figure 1) The curve represents the value of potential energy U...

A spring-loaded launcher is used to shoot a ball of mass 1.50 kg straight up in the air, as shown in (Figure 1). The spring has spring constant k 667 N/m. If the spring is compressed a distance of 25.0 centimeters from its equilibrium position y = 0 and then released, the ball reaches a maximum height hmax (measured from the equilibrium position of the spring). There is no air resistance, and the ball never touches the inside of the...
