To cool it off, you drop it into a bucket containing 4.0 kg of water at 60°C. How much of this water is converted to steam? Assume the steel, the water, and the steam all have the same final temperature.

Steam is ideally taken to have a temperature of 100o C so here we assume that is the final temperature.

let x kg water be converted into steam. the specific heat of steel=450J/kg C

So 13.5*450*370 = 4*1*40 + x*2.3*106  [Latent heat of water vapourization]

so x = 0.977kg
