In first genetype, As the repressor gene mutated, the product would be non functioal. But, the repressor is trans operational, the repressor from second genotype, will act on first genetype. so, the lacZ gene express under induced conditions.

In case of the another genotype due to constitutive operator, lacY gene expresses continoulsy, so lacY gene expresses in all cases.

So, the answer is b) - + + +
